Listing Policy

RentThis works because renters can trust what they see. These rules keep listings honest and keep the transaction on the platform, where both sides are protected.

Photos

Show the actual item. Photos should be of the equipment you're renting — on a job site, in your yard, on the trailer. A renter deciding between two listings needs to see what they're getting.

Your branding is welcome. If your dumpster, truck, or trailer has your company name and number painted on it, that's fine — that's your equipment.

What doesn't work: marketing graphics, flyers, or ad banners in place of photos. If the image is designed rather than photographed, it isn't showing the renter the item.

If you genuinely don't have a photo yet — new inventory, still in transit — a manufacturer image is acceptable temporarily if the description says so. Replace it when you can.

Contact details

Don't put phone numbers, email addresses, or "call for pricing" in your listing text, title, or images.

This isn't about hiding you. RentThis handles booking, payment, and protection, and that only works when the rental runs through the platform — it's also how you're covered if a renter damages your equipment or disappears with it. Once a booking is confirmed, you and the renter exchange contact details automatically.

Messages on the platform filter contact details for the same reason.

Prices

List a real price. Renters filter and compare on price, and a listing without one gets skipped.

If your pricing genuinely varies — delivery distance, tonnage over the included limit, weekend rates — set your base rate as the price and explain the variable part in the description. "$575 for 7 days, +$10/day after" is a real price. "Call for quote" isn't.

Accurate descriptions

Describe the condition, capacity, and limits honestly. Overstating what your equipment does produces cancellations, disputes, and bad reviews — all of which cost you more than the booking was worth.

What can't be listed

Anything illegal to rent, anything you don't own or have the right to rent out, and anything requiring a license or certification you don't hold.

If a listing needs changes

We'll tell you what needs to change and why, and your listing stays in draft until you fix it. Most issues are a photo swap or a line of text.

Repeated or deliberate violations — particularly attempts to move transactions off the platform — are handled under our Terms of Service.
