Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, list equipment, make a rental booking, or contact our support team. This includes your name, email address, phone number, billing address, payment information, and any content you submit such as equipment descriptions and photographs. We also automatically collect certain information when you use our platform, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and usage data such as pages viewed and actions taken.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve the RentThis platform. This includes processing rental transactions, verifying user accounts, facilitating communication between listers and renters, sending transactional notifications, providing customer support, and analyzing usage trends to enhance user experience. We may also use your information to send promotional communications, from which you can opt out at any time.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with other users as necessary to facilitate rental transactions: for example, sharing a renter's name and contact information with a lister upon booking confirmation. We may also share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, email delivery, analytics, advertising, and advertising measurement. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of RentThis, our users, or the public.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your personal information. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest, regular security assessments, and access controls limiting employee access to personal data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

5. Cookies

RentThis uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our platform. Cookies help us remember your preferences, understand how you interact with our services, and deliver relevant content. We use both session cookies, which expire when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings, though disabling cookies may affect certain platform functionality.

We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how people find RentThis, to learn whether our ads lead to sign-ups, listings and bookings, and to show RentThis ads to people who have visited our site. These services may set cookies or use similar technologies when you visit our site. They receive information about your visit, such as pages viewed and actions taken, but we do not send them your name, email address or phone number. Third-party vendors, including Google, show our ads on sites across the internet and use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your past visits to RentThis. You can opt out of Google's use of cookies for personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of many other vendors' use of cookies for personalized ads at optout.networkadvertising.org.
