I started DePaolo Disposal in 2002 doing junk removal part time while running other companies I owned. It got busy enough that I saw a better way to serve those customers: drop off a dumpster so they could load it themselves, or pay us to load it for them. That became Rent This Dumpster, and it grew into more than 20 years in the waste business across Massachusetts.

The first was idle inventory. Every owner knows the feeling of a yard full of dumpsters in the slow season. Equipment that sits still costs money every day and earns nothing.

The second was brokers. A broker takes the call, quotes the customer a price the owner never saw, keeps the difference, and hands the owner the drop. The customer pays more and the owner earns less. And when something goes wrong, it is the owner's name on the dumpster in the driveway.

I started RentThis in August 2022. It is the marketplace I wanted as an owner. Owners list their own equipment, set their own rates and haul area, and deal with the customer directly. There is no broker in the middle quoting a different price, and our service fee is shown to both sides as its own line.

For years I ran my company on software that got me about 90% of the way there. Every product I tried was missing something I needed day to day, so I filled the gaps with manual workarounds. The platforms that did have everything were built for large haulers and priced for them, not for a small operator like me.

Nothing on the market was built around how a dumpster rental business actually runs. So I built it. RentThisApp is software for rental and waste operators that follows the real daily workflow, from the first call to the final pickup, at a price a small business can justify.
